Welding is what happens when you join two similar metals together — and it’s an integral part of quality custom metal fabrication.

Why custom welding is an art

While the process may seem as simple as metal 1 + metal 2 = finished product, there is a variety of types of welding a craftsperson could use to optimize your finished product. That’s why, at GC Custom Metal Fabrication, we see metal welding and fabrication as much more of an art than a science.

Types of welding services

The strengths and aesthetics of the welding job come down to the right techniques applied by artisans who care.

Having multiple precision welding techniques and materials at our fingertips ensures the final product will not only be built to last but easy on the eyes as well.

Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIG)

This arc welding process uses a shielding gas like argon or helium to protect the weld area from atmospheric contamination and oxidation. This process is great for more detailed precision welding projects and for joining various types of thin metals together.

Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)

Probably the most common welding process, GMAW uses heat created from a consumable and continuously fed metal electrode, and uses a shielding gas to protect the workpiece from contamination. GMAW is a faster process than TIG, so ideal for high-output projects with less refined details.

Importance of quality welding in custom metal fabrication

Never skimp on the welding. Quality precision welding services result in:

  • Safer metal components
  • Greater product longevity
  • A more aesthetically pleasing final product
  • No unseen defects or flaws in the final product
  • Damage resistance
